May 2005. - LALONDE INVITED SPEAKER AT 2006 ICM: François Lalonde, director of Centre de recherches mathématiques, will deliver an invited talk at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Madrid in 2006. Some of his earlier works had been presented in part by his collaborator Dusa McDuff at the ICM 1998 plenary.

A workshop organized in October 2005 by the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton) will tackle the new Cornea-Lalonde theory on the Cluster complex (universal Floer theory) and its relations with Hofer's polyfolds theory for general moduli spaces.

Stéphane Durand, member of the CRM, is the 2003-2004 prizewinner of the Special Prize for Creativity and Accuracy in Scientific Vulgarization given by the ministre de l'Éducation of Québec. The honor is given to him following the publication of his book La relativité animée – Comprendre Einstein en animant soi-même l'espace-temps, Paris, Belin - Pour la science, 2003, 96p.
