This conference is held at the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Département d’informatique et de recherche opérationnelle (DIRO). It also concludes the Semestre thématique en optimisation combinatoire, organized by the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM). Also contributing to the event is the Réseau de Calcul et de Modélisation Mathématique (rcm2) and its affiliated members, including the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur les réseaux d’entreprise, la logistique et le transport (CIRRELT) and the Groupe d’études et de recherche en analyse des décisions (GERAD). Immediately before the conference, the 2006 Harold Larnder Prize of the Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS) will be presented to Dr. Gomory. This prize is awarded annually by CORS to an individual who has achieved international distinction in operational research.
