 Overview

This event will mark the tenth anniversary of a series of meetings that have taken place annually since 1998, focusing on a variety of topics of current interest on the boundary between physics and mathematics, mainly relating to group theoretic methods, number theory, integrable systems, differential equations, wavelets and their applications. The purpose of these meetings is, in part, to encourage international contacts and communications between scientific workers in Cuba and colleagues elsewhere having similar interests, and to help thereby to maintain an active scientific life within the Cuban and Latin American research community. The scope this year is being enhanced to mark the tenth anniversary occasion and to encourage broader international participation. Past meetings have always generated a cordial and relaxed atmosphere for work and recreation. Cuba is renowned for its touristic opportunities, including eco-tourism, its colourful cultural and literary heritage and its deep historical interest. A number of exchanges between research groups in Cuba and outside have developed as a result of these meetings, and it is hoped that this sort of mutual exchange will continue to develop.

Topics Include

-- Signal processing, time-frequency and wavelet analysis

    -- Differential equations

    -- Integrable systems

    -- Number theory

    -- Differential geometric methods

A number of internationally recognized mathematicians and physicist have been invited to give plenary lectures. There will also be the possibility of giving contributed talks. Should you wish to give such a talk please visit the registration page and submit your application, by January 20th, 2007.

Lectures and other events will be held at the landmark Hotel Nacional in Havana, located at Calle O, esq. a 21, Vedado, Ciudad de la Habana.

There will be a registration fee of 200 CUC (Convertible Cuban Pesos), which is approximately 160 euros, that will be collected at the beginning of the workshop. For Cuban participants the registration fee will be 200 (National) Pesos. The registration fee will cover coffee, refreshments and lunch during the workshop.
