PRIX CRM—SSC EN STATISTIQUE
APPEL À CANDIDATURES
 

Montréal, 22 novembre 2016. - Le Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) et la Société statistique du Canada (SSC) sollicitent des candidatures pour le prix CRM-SSC offert à une personne s'étant distinguée par ses travaux de recherche en sciences statistiques au cours des quinze premières années suivant l'obtention de son doctorat.
 
Le prix, doté d'une bourse de 3000 $, est octroyé au plus une fois par année à un citoyen canadien ou à un résident permanent du Canada dont la plupart des travaux de recherche ont été effectués au Canada.
 
Les lauréats du prix, depuis sa création en 1999, ont été Christian Genest (Laval), Robert J. Tibshirani (Stanford), Colleen D. Cutler (Waterloo), Larry A. Wasserman (Carnegie Mellon), Charmaine B. Dean (Simon Fraser), Randy R. Sitter (Simon Fraser), Jiahua Chen (Waterloo), Jeffrey S. Rosenthal (Toronto), Richard J. Cook (Waterloo), Paul Gustafson (UBC), Hugh Chipman (Acadia), Grace Y. Yi (Waterloo), Edward Susko (Dalhousie), Changbao Wu (Waterloo), Derek Bingham (Simon Fraser), Fang Yao (University of Toronto), Matías Salibán-Barrera (University of British Columbia) and Radu Craiu (University of Toronto).
 
En 2017, seules seront admissibles les personnes ayant obtenu leur doctorat (ou un diplôme équivalent) en 2002 ou après. Il n'est pas nécessaire que les candidats soient membres de la SSC. Exceptionellement, sur la base d'une explication des circonstances spéciales, telles que les congés parentaux ou d'autres congés qui ont retardé les réalisations professionnelles, le comité pourra examiner les candidatures dont l'année d'obtention du doctorat est antérieure à 2002.
 
Les candidatures seront évaluées par un comité consultatif composé de cinq membres, dont trois sont nommés par la SSC et deux par le CRM. Le comité est présidé par l'un des deux représentants du CRM.
 
Les dossiers de candidature, incluant trois lettres de recommandation et un curriculum vitae à jour (comportant une liste de publications), doivent être acheminés au CRM avant le 1er février 2017. Les dossiers des années précédentes n'étant pas reconduits automatiquement, les candidatures doivent être renouvelées chaque année.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
 

Montréal, November 22, 2016. - The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) and the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) solicit nominations for the CRM-SSC Prize, awarded in recognition of a statistical scientist's professional accomplishments in research during the first fifteen years after having received a doctorate.
 
The award, which includes a $3000 cash prize, is offered at most once a year to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada whose research was carried out primarily in Canada.
 
Since its creation in 1999, recipients of the award have been Christian Genest (Laval), Robert J. Tibshirani (Stanford), Colleen D. Cutler (Waterloo), Larry A. Wasserman (Carnegie Mellon), Charmaine B. Dean (Simon Fraser), Randy R. Sitter (Simon Fraser), Jiahua Chen (Waterloo), Jeffrey S. Rosenthal (Toronto), Richard J. Cook (Waterloo), Paul Gustafson (UBC), Hugh Chipman (Acadia), Grace Y. Yi (Waterloo), Edward Susko (Dalhousie), Changbao Wu (Waterloo), Derek Bingham (Simon Fraser), Fang Yao (Toronto), Matías Salibán-Barrera (University of British Columbia) and Radu Craiu (University of Toronto).
 
In 2017, eligibility will be limited to candidates who received their Ph. D. (or an equivalent degree) in the year 2002 or subsequently. Current membership in the SSC is not a prerequisite. The committee may exceptionally consider candidates who have received their degree prior to 2002, who have taken parental leaves or other leaves of absence from work which can be demonstrated to have delayed professional achievements.
 
The nominations will be examined by an Advisory Committee consisting of five members, three of whom are appointed by the SSC and two by the CRM. The committee is chaired by one of the two CRM representatives.
 
Nominations, including three letters of support and an up-to-date curriculum vitae (with a list of publications) should be submitted to the CRM before February 1, 2017. As files are not carried over from one year to the next, nominations must be renewed each year.
