Award of an NSERC Grant to the CRM

Montréal, August 6, 2014 - The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded a grant of $1.15 million per year to the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) for a five-year period starting in 2014. This award was made within the framework of the first competition of the CTRSMS Program (Collaborative and Thematic Resources Support in Mathematics and Statistics).

The CRM is proud of its success and very pleased that NSERC has recognized the excellence of its programs. Thanks to the CTRSMS grant for the 2014-2019 period, the CRM will be able to continue fulfilling the mission of a world-class mathematics institute. In particular, in collaboration with the Fields Institute and Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), the CRM will continue supporting the Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS) and support the new Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute.

Furthermore, NSERC has awarded a grant of $1.5 million over three years to the three institutes (the CRM, the Fields Institute, and PIMS) in order to create an Institute Innovation Platform (IIP). The IIP is designed to foster partnerships in the mathematical sciences between universities and enterprises in the private or public sector.
