Workshop on Nonlinear Dynamics and Renormalization Group
August 22-27, 1999
The workshop is devoted to two relatively young and fast developing areas of mathematical physics -
nonlinear dynamics and renormalization group, the former being understood as a qualitative theory of
nonlinear evolution partial differential equations. Some of the questions addressed are: the dynamics
of particle-like structures (e.g solitons and vortices) and interface boundaries, blow-up profiles,
universal features of large-time behavior, and the application of renormalization group methods to the
dynamical phenomena in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics and in particular to nonlinear PDEs. The
workshop will have review talks summarizing recent advances, talks on current progress and discussions
on promising directions.
