The final state of dynamical black holes: Problems and progress
The challenge of understanding the possible final states of black hole exteriors  is a central one in mathematical general relativity. Indeed, it touches on other central questions in the subject, such as the stability of the known stationary black hole solutions, and the issue  of characterizing black holes in terms of their emitted gravitational radiation.  I will give a survey of these problems, with an emphasis on the question of black hole uniqueness. Recent progress and challenges ahead will be discussed.

Une réception suivra la conférence au Salon Maurice-L'Abbé, Pavillon André-Aisenstadt (Salle 6245).
